FAA Revokes Operating Certificate of L.A.B. Flying Service

Juneau, Alaska --- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a Letter of Emergency Revocation to L.A.B. Flying Service on Thursday, July 24 at 10:50 a.m. because of continuing aircraft maintenance problems.

A Letter of Emergency Revocation is an official notice that immediately cancels the airline’s operating certificate.  The company cannot resume flying operations until they are issued a new certificate.  The FAA issued the letter to L.A.B. after several weeks of working on continuing aircraft maintenance issues.

A charter on-demand service, L.A.B. Flying Service served 10 cities in southeast Alaska including Juneau, Haines, Gustavus, Hoonah, Kake, Skagway, Excursion, Petersburg, Craig/Klawock, and Ketchikan.

L.A.B. Flying Service is headquartered in Haines, Alaska.  The letter was delivered to its office in Juneau.  The FAA is the element of the U.S. government with primary responsibility for the safety of civil aviation.
